Hallelujah!

What a day yesterday was.

I spoke to the Vet yesterday morning who said that Lily was pretty perky and was sitting in her "jail" watching TV. She did well over night and started pooping semi-solid poops. Yes they were sandy, but she was starting to poop real poop. That was music to our ears. They were going to wait till around noon and shoot another x-ray to see if things were progressing out of the belly and heading down in the direction they were supposed to be going. They would also try to feed her after the x-ray.

So while we waited for the next round of news, Rolf and I headed off to visit G-Pa Bob at his Rehab Home. We were exhausted from the no sleep and worry but knew that G-Pa Bob enjoys the company. (Usually I'm with him most of the day.)

We checked in with the ICU Vet Tech who told us the x-ray was just completed but had not been read yet. She also said that Lily would not eat. That didn't worry them as she was still under the weather. The Vet would have to call us back with the results of the x-ray.

We decided to cut our visit short with G-Pa Bob and head home to try and take a nap.

We got about a 1/2 mile from home when we got the call from the Vet. She said that the sand is now moving out of the belly which was GLORIOUS news!! She said why don't you come in to visit her.

Rolf, slam on the brakes and turn this bus around. We're going to visit our girl!

We met with the Vet who showed us the new x-rays. She said that thankfully things are turning in the right direction for Lily. The sand blockage in the stomach was starting to break up and that is making Lily much more comfortable. They are checking her poop to be sure that the sand is in there. No doubt about it she said! Sand, lot's of sand!
You can see on the new x-ray that the obstruction in the stomach is almost gone and is moving into the lower intestine. Yeah!

Much to our SURPRISE, in comes the Vet Tech holding Lily dressed in her harness and leash.

Rolf and I cried tears of JOY when we were told we can bring her home, but only under very close supervision.

 LOOK at that FACE!

We have special soft food to feed her. It's a very sticky food that will hopefully stick to the sand to help eliminate it. Multiple small meals a day. They said she will poop a lot on this food. Three different kinds of pills and a squeeze tube of medicine too. We also have to check all of her poop to be sure the sand is coming out.

We head home with our girl to celebrate and to take a long, long, nap.

As we walked into the house with Lily, the phone started to ring. It was the Rehab Facility saying that they are taking G-Pa Bob to the Emergency Room. SHIT! His blood count was extremely low and he needed a transfusion.

I wasn't home for more than 5 minutes before I had to leave for the hospital. They have trouble finding a good vein because he's on a fluid restriction for the heart failure. They will give him 2 units of blood, Lasix for the leg swelling, a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia, the whole nine yards. I'll be heading back up there shortly to check on him. I'm coming down with an upper respiratory something, so will not stay at the hospital long. It's too risky for G-Pa Bob. My body is just exhausted and now it is rebelling.

Lily slept all evening, had 2 small meals, took all her med's like a champ, pooped twice (and yes, it was filled with sand), and slept all night long. She is in good spirits this morning and is laying right now in the sun. We're slowly getting our girl back.

Hallelujah!

Thank you again for your love, prayers and good wishes for one and all.

Hugs,
Kim
xoxo
