Needed: A Padded Room for Mommy

Things have been quite hectic around here these past few weeks since we've last checked in with everyone.

A couple of weeks ago Mommy and Daddy finally got to celebrate Christmas with Daddy's side of the family. Believe me when I say, it takes a lot of planning on Mommy's part to coordinate an outing. And it doesn't happen often! Muffin and I got to spend the day with our Aunt Rona, Uncle Steve and my BFF little doxie Freeda.  No worries there as we are safe with them.

The stars in the sky aligned and the Stinky Fish promised to take Grandpa Bob for the entire day. Check that worry off our list!

Mommy and Daddy had a great time and got to see their 4 nephews. Mommy was THRILLED beyond belief to get out of the house and not have to worry about a thing. Or so she thought.....

I'll spare you the details of everything in-between that day and 5 days later. But this is how it played out.....

Grandpa Bob comes out for breakfast wearing shorts. Our weather that day was in the 40's so a little unusual to be wearing shorts. Grandpa Bob asks Mommy to look at his leg because it is bothering him. Mommy said "why is your leg bothering you?" She took one look at it and couldn't believe her eyes! WTF! Grandpa's leg was swollen from his thigh to his ankle. It looked like a stuffed sausage and he could hardly bend it. Mommy immediately called the Doctor who sent us to the Emergency Ortho Clinic to have it looked at.

Now Mommy has to play detective to get all the facts because NO ONE ever tells her the truth. Come to find out that Grandpa Bob was left home ALONE the majority of 'that day' and that the Stinky Fish decided they were not going to watch him ALL DAY as they promised.  So while he was left alone here in the house, Grandpa Bob fell. How he got off the floor by himself, we don't know. We just know it wasn't easy for him.

Can I say, it was NOT a pleasant conversation between Mommy and her brother. Why does everyone feel that it is NOT important to tell Mommy when these things happen. We don't understand why everyone tries to hide the truth from her! Mommy was LIVID, she was boiling mad. Everyone was sworn to secrecy so Mommy wouldn't find out that they didn't take him all day as promised. Sworn to secrecy not to tell Mommy that Grandpa Bob fell.

Thankfully, nothing was broken but it is going to take a long, long time for his leg to heal.

And the Stinky Fish said THIS was NO BIG DEAL:

Poor Grandpa Bob! Can't even bend his ankle because of all the bruising and can hardly walk.

Mommy is sooooo upset with everyone and it just breaks her heart that these things happen when it could have been prevented. If they had only taken him as promised. In the end, in case you were wondering, yes, Mommy got blamed for this! Didn't you know that "you should NEVER rely on someone else to do your job!!"

Grandpa Bob had his Colonoscopy the other day. Another fun task for Mommy since he can hardly get out of his chair unassisted or walk. All that prep solution really does a number on you. Mommy felt like a jumping bean getting him up and down and up and down and up and down. For those of you who have ever had one knows what I'm talking about. Then they had to get up at 3am so Grandpa could drink the last of the solution.

Grandpa Bob enjoying the Colonoscopy Clear Liquid Diet. (See the typed note on the table? Mommy posted them ALL over the house to remind him he could only have water and Jello.)

They removed 6 polyps which the Dr. said will be sent out for biopsy (which is routine) but do not look like cancer. The Dr. could find no reason for the low iron count or why there was blood detected.

The day after that, Grandpa Bob had to go in the early morning for his pre-op again. Because they cancelled his surgery once, he had to do the entire pre-op all over again because it was outside of 30 days. That was a 4 hour ordeal.

Grandpa Bob still wants to go ahead with the Aneurysm surgery this Thursday. He has been very depressed just thinking about it. He has been talking a lot about going to see our Grandma in Heaven. Of course, that makes Mommy's eyes water and turn red.

We have been trying to keep his spirits up as much as we can. We keep telling him that we've got to get back to Florida before the snow falls here in NY. We tell him his friends in Florida are waiting for him to get back into the weekly card games. We've got our favorite restaurants there. We talk about the new fruit tree's we planted in May. Mommy's birthday is Friday and she tells him he better get through this surgery because she doesn't want to have a shitty birthday. Muffin and I tell him he's gotta stick around to give us our 8pm treats! We're REALLY trying.

To top it all off, Grandpa Bob went missing the other day. Couldn't find him anywhere. Finally Mommy looked in the garage and found that the garage door was open. She ran out to the front of the house and there he was sitting on his Rollator up the street. He TRIED to go for a walk, but couldn't, so he sat there.

Mommy goes to the Dr. tomorrow for a blood pressure check. She had to go in last week and be put on some blood pressure medication. We can't figure out why she now has high blood pressure, can you?

So furends, that's our story and we're sticking with it!

So, if any of you have a padded room for rent, please let us know. Mommy is tired of banging her head on hard walls.

We love and miss you all!

Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin

Love to you all and blessings to Grandpa Bob.

  4. That is a lot to handle. It is not her fault that other people can't do their jobs. We all need help and to trust others. Get Grandpa Bob tested for celiac disease. We are thinking of you and hope everything calms down. Lee and Phod

  5. The stinky fish is the most SELFISH person I have never met. What would he have said/done if Grandpa Bob's injury had been much worse. I think instead of a padded room for you you should lock your brother in one and leave him in there for a long time.

I wish there was something we could say or do to make it all better. Just know that you and your family (the nice parts) are always in our thoughts and hearts. Millie & Walter will also keep their paws crossed tight for Grandpa Bob and his upcoming surgery.

    Love to you,

    Cindy, Millie & Walter

  14. OH LILY BELLE, MUFFIN AND MOM WE ARE SO VERY VERY SORRY OCTOBER HAS STARTED OFF WITH A BANG. STINKY FISH NEEDS TO BE EXCOMMUNICATED FROM YOUR FAMILY...HE IS OF ABSOLUTELY NO USE. SOMETIMES MOM WISHES SHE HAD A SIBLING TO HELP BUT AS IT TURNS OUT SHE MIGHT HAVE A STINKY FISH SO SHE IS PROBABLY BETTER OFF. WE ARE SO GLAD GRANDPA BOB DIDN'T BREAK ANYTHING. MOM CANNOT IMAGINE HOW YOUR MOM MANAGED GRANDPA BOB WHILE DOING THE PREP.

NOW ALL THAT BEING SAID...YOUR MOM MUST TAKE CARE OF HERSELF...AND HER BP...SHE IS THE LAST WOMAN STANDING SO TO SPEAK. IF SHE FALLS ILL...IT WILL BE A MESS. LOTS OF HUGS AND PURRS

  18. I swore I commented on this before, but guess not. It was so good to hear from you when you posted this... even though it was about so much bad stuff :(. You hadn't posted for quite a while and I was starting to get worried that something had happened. I send a poo sandwich for Stinky Fish. I never talk about other people's family members because it's not fair to talk bad about someone I don't know, but to do Grandpa Bob that way makes my blood boil. Gosh, you and him are going through SO much right now.
Still sending prayers and pawprayers your way! If you find a good padded room, let me know!
