The Stinky Vet

Hi my furends, Muffin here. Can you believe it? I actually get to do a post today on my very own!

I have to say I'm a little nervous. No, not about doing a post on my own, but because I had to see the Vet yesterday for my annual exam. I don't think that any of us really enjoy going to the Vet's. Well other than Mom bcuz she think's that Lily's Vet is very handsome. Oh sorry, I'm straying a little bit.

The day started out innocent enough

So of course we all get there and Daddy and Lily stay in the car while Mommy takes me in.

There were many BIG dog's in there and they were all talking to one another. I didn't like that at all. BIG dogs scare the bejeezers outta me.

Then they called my name. I tried to hid under Mommy's arm but my little butt was hanging out and they found me. Dang it all!

After we got to the exam room, they whisked me away to the back room. We all know what happens in that back room. Yup! Back door stuff. Temperature taking and butt glands. Guess that's why they call it the BACK room.

I finally get reuinited with Mommy and then the Vet walks in carrying not one, but two BIG needles. OMD, they're gonna stick that where? I was a really brave girl and took it well. I didn't even try to bite him.

Next came the looksie at my teeth. Well, that didn't go very well at all. First of all, I don't like anyone touching my mouth. I didn't like it much so I gave the Vet a little, low level growl. Mommy said she was really proud of me for handling it all so well. Again, no bites!

But Houston, we have a problem..... I've got a badly broken tooth in the far back. We have no idea how that happened but it has to come out. If I don't get it pulled, then I could get a very nasty infection in it which would only lead to more problems.

Who me... Worried? You betcha!

Mommy said it must be done, so she made the surgical appointment for next Wednesday. Can I say I'm less than thrilled with the idea! I don't do well when I'm left alone at the Vet's. I'm a little woosie without my Mommy to protect me and to hold me. And I have to stay there most of the day? What kind of crap is that?

Mommy said that if I'm really good, that the Tooth Fairy will come at night and leave me something special under my pillow. She said too that there will be some yummy soft food for dinner for awhile and even some yogurt and Frosty Paws too. That's what I'm talking about!

Have you had to have teeth pulled before? Maybe you have some words of wisdom for us on what to expect.

Mommy is trying to be a brave little soldier for me. But we can see she is worried. Lily must know that something is up because she didn't leave my side all day yesterday. She's probably thinking, better you than me.

We've had a rough few weeks here. The Stinky Fish are gone ~ Yeah!, Mommy is still very sick with this respiratory infection (which BTW, the Dr. informed her this morning, is lasting well over a month in people here), my tooth needing to come out and Grandpa Bob's skin cancer surgery that is coming up in two weeks.

But don't worry, we're made from tough stock! Like Grandma use to say "sometimes we have to throw ourselves on our swords."

In the end, my question to you is this..... Do you believe in the Tooth Fairy?

Hugs,
Muffin

  1. Snoopy is busy packing his stuffies to come take care of his Princess! He had his toofies cleaned last month but no teeth pulled. Tasha had a tooth pulled when she had hers and it hurt a while, but she had OTS of sling time to recover from the trauma- maybe your mom should buy a sling for you!

  2. Hi there Muffin. Yes we believe in the Tooth Fairy. You will be fine having that tooth out since you will be in Na Na land. Asleep through it all. Your Mom is the one that will need help. The humans worry them selves silly.
But remind us that it is next Wed. and we will send purrs and the donkeys here are famous for crossing their hooves for good luck. Glad it is just one Tooth that has to come out.

  5. Hells Bells mom didn't even ever never tell us about the Tooth Fairy, so we would have not been expectin nothin if we would ever lose our teeths...now maggie the monster has very sharp teeth so i pray everyday that she loses all her teeth in her sleep cos my backend is gettin real tired of her chompin on it everyday!! We sure hopes your mom gets to feeling better soon, maybe its the stress of the stinky visitors and now that they have hit the road jack she will relax and start to feel better, laying out in the sun and getting extra vit. d always helps me. Then you got the worry of Grandpa Bob now so your momma just piles it on herself...we sure hope things calm down soon at your house, my moms grandmas said "it will always come out in the wash.." Mom never could figure out what the heck she meant!
Hugs a bunch and we will be thinking of you next wednesday!

  12. Other than our 'career girl' operations (knock on wood) we've only had the usual annual needles and check up. Hope everything goes well with the teef op. At least you'll be out to it most of the time.

We haven't seen the Tooth Fairy, but we've heard she hangs around sometimes.

  13. Here is what you do Muffin, very easy. Get a kid with a good throwing arm. Then give him a baseball, not a tennis ball but a baseball, then have them throw it for you to catch. Voila, all your teeth are gone and you'll never have to worry about it again.

(not really, but My Vickie was really upset when a kid threw a baseball for me to catch and I lost my whole incisor, just like that. At least it was quick. You have to wait and worry about it for a week.

    Love ya

  14. That is a lot of doctor stuff in a week. Our Nin had 2 teeth removed once. He walked around like a drunken sailor after, it was very funny. We don't like the vet either, but we know they just want to keep us healthy. We wish you luck. Lee and Phod

  16. I've had to have a tooth out a long while back. As far as I can remember it was not to bad, I think. MOM still has it in a jar. But the tooth fairy did come and I got a whole bag of yummy yummy extra special treats.
Hope all that has to happen to the whole family goes well and will be over before you know it.
    Blessings,

  19. I hope that your tooth comes out real easy Muffin. I understand about being at the vet alone, because Shyla feels the same way. Our paws are crossed for your mom to feel better and for Grandpa's surgery to go smoothly. You have a lot going on...

  20. Don't worry about anything, Muffin! Once my sissy Cinderella had to have some teeth pulled because they were broken all the way to the nerve. Momma thought they were going to pull four, but she came to pick Cinderella up and they'd pulled FOURTEEN! But she was just fine afterward and it doesn't bother her at all to be half-gummy. You'll be totally fine, and the Tooth Fairy will bring you something nice!

  21. Oh dear Muffin, poor you. Cross paws that all goes well next week and you will be as right as rain again.
Do you know, I went to the vets earlier this evening for my annuals jabs (or "`jags' if you are speaking Scots) and the only other creature there was this teeny weeny little thing, much smaller than you. I didn't think it was a dog at all but Gail insists that he was a very young Chihuahua pup!
    Toodle pip!
