Power of the Paw - 8pm Update

Update: Just got back from the Vet's. The Dr. said these lumps are allergies! (Just a coincidence that they popped up today and the other lumps popped up yesterday???)

Not the best picture but the lump is very red.

Lily got a big shot of steroids in her rear end. She will be taking steroid pills starting tomorrow and we have to up the benedryl to a whole tablet 3 times a day. Double Ug! Guess I need to buy more Pill Pockets now....

We're praying that these new lumpies go away real soon. Lily is shaking her head quite a bit and we have to be very careful that she doesn't rupture another disk doing this.

We had to make a trip to the Vet's this morning. We went for a hike in the park yesterday and by last night Lily was breaking out in bumps on her belly and neck. (We will post the hike pic's another day.) So of course I dosed her with some Benedryl last night. By this morning she was shaking and scratching her ears and licking the bumps that she could reach.

So off to the Vet's we go.....

Yup, found the treats!

The Dr. concluded that the bumps were some type of bug bites and that I did the right thing by giving her Benedryl. She said to give her the Benedryl 3 times a day and call if any more problems. And... while we were there, the girls also had a pedicure. (Mommy's too scared to trim our nails.)

Then about 4pm I noticed a whole sh*t load of bumps breaking out all over her neck and some of them are red and festering! Just what the heck!!!! So I called the vet and I have to bring her back at 7pm tonight. Ugh.....

Please think some good thoughts for my baby.

Hugs,
Mommy Kim

p.s. Please continue to keep Anna Rose in your prayers too as she is very sick.

  3. They don't have fire ants in New York, do they? When we first moved to Florida 20 years ago we had a very young Doxie puppy named Tara. The first thing Tara did when we moved her to our new house was run in the yard and start digging in what she thought was a sand pile. Well.....it was a fire ant hill. She was also covered with bumps that looked very similar to Lily's.

Lots of crossed paws over here for Lily. We also talked to Anna Rose's Mommy on the telephone a while ago and keeping her in our prayers too.

  4. Oh no! My BBFF, PLEASE get better soon! I'm just so worried over here. Do y'all have fire ants? Could she have gotten into poison ivy or something? Lily, tell your momma she can email me (nolabuggy@gmail.com) anytime if she can't update or just needs a furiend. Love you so much, get better soon! 16 paws crossed here

  5. We were thinking fire ants too - seems too coincidental to us to be allergies. Would they really pop out that fast and all at once? We sure hope the meds help her and the bumps go away. Just an FYI, she is probably going to drink a lot and need to pee a lot more often from that shot. Thunder had one recently and it seemed to have an impact on him for about a week.

  15. Glad she is feeling better. But Newbs is worried about her. I think he thinks you all aren't looking out for her enough considering you are constantly moving trying to get away from Humpty Hump.

Newby wants you all to make your southern trip THROUGH Lexington. He will be beside I-75 and US 60 with his dog bowls and treats and squeeky toy and blankets. :)
