Where we live (Perinton, New York; a suburb of Rochester) has been named one of the top 10 "Trail Towns" in the United States by the American Hiking Society (AHS) and the U. S. National Park Service.
In Perinton there are three major, interconnecting trailways: the Erie Canal Heritage Trail, the Rochester Syracuse & Eastern Trolley Trail (a.k.a. Perinton Hikeway-Bikeway), and the Crescent Trail.
Both the Erie Canal Heritage Trail, towpath of the historic Erie Canal, and the RS&E Trolley Trail, the railbed of a former interurban electric trolley, are on publicly-owned rights of way. The surfaces are level, improved, and suitable for multiple uses such as bicycling, jogging, hiking, and cross-country skiing. They are closed to motorized vehicles.
Since we've been out walking, hiking, losting
These are from our Tuesday hike:
26.4 acres
It is still an active arboretum as plants, trees and shrubs are still being planted there
This time, Mommy turned on the tracking program app she downloaded.
We didn't wanna get lost again!
We found a very old fire hydrant right smack dab in the middle of the field
Mommy's favorite picture from our hike
A little black doggie pondering the road of life...
Hugs,
Lily Belle
A beautiful area. And it's a great idea to go on all the walks. Good thing you've got your app to help you. We hope your mum was wearing something more substantial than Birkenstocks this time.

Did you remember the bread crumbs?
I didn't know that about Rochester! We are at the other end of the state! What a beautiful place to go for a hike!
ReplyDeleteSorry Lily still chucking over your Blair Witch Project walk. Have a terrific Thursday.

What great hiking trails. so glad you didn't even get lost! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of checking off each trial on the map. That is something I would love to do. And I am very happy you did not get lost.

Cool! I wish we had neat trails like that near me. Momma said she's going to start looking for some good hikes now that it's getting cool enough not to melt during them.
ReplyDeleteThat is LOVELY!! :) Our daddy and human brother have been to Rochester several times on mission trips for the church. Our mom doesn't do mission trips... she likes vacation trips... We agree with her ;)
ReplyDeleteWe got your beautiful text! xx Newby is overjoyed, as always, and says "grrrr-barky-woof!!"

I've never been to that arboretum. It looks very nice. Maybe when/if we get our new dog (no one in the works just yet) we will have to try it out. The weather sure has been pleasant for hiking around here.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Nice Walking place... butt I kinda miss the excitement of you getting lost. hehehe
ReplyDeleteWoof to you Lily Belle & Muffin!!!! I am most envious of all of the hiking options close to your home. I will have to convince my assistant to let me come up for a visit so that I can experience real hiking with your 2 firsthand!!!! Much love to you 2 - XXOO - Mazzie
ReplyDeleteOh, that does look like a great place for a hike, Lily. We agree with your Mom, that is such a great shot of you contemplating the big journey ahead of you.
