Drum Roll Please

Hi Furends,

It's been 7 & 8 years now that Lily and Muffin have been at the Bridge. Our hearts still miss them terribly. They will always be "our girls."

We have been taking care of a friend/neighbor who for 6 years has been fighting pancreatic cancer. She lost the battle 3 weeks ago. She leaves behind her loving husband Bob, her dog Einstein and lot's of family.

A few months ago, Marilyn came over and asked Rolf and I to adopt Einstein when she passes. She knew it would be too much for her husband. Of course we jumped at the chance. She knew how much we loved our girls and said we have the perfect home for him.

This is the 3rd friend I've lost in the past 4 months. Too much ugly cancer in this world!

On August 12th, we OFFICIALLY adopted Einstein. He is a 14 pound Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. Einstein is 4 years old. We have been his doggie sitters for the past 4 years. He is a total love! We are so excited to love on him, as it's been a long, long time.

We are working on crate training him as he has bad separation anxiety. They took him everywhere! Never left him home. He was also hand fed because he is a picky eater. I put the kabash on that issue. He is finally learning to eat out of his dish. If you have any ideas on how to help with his anxiety, please share your secrets. We saw the vet yesterday for his yearly shots and check-up. They are ordering us Gabapentin for the anxiety.

It's the Cadillac of the dog world
We're all going on vacation to visit family in NC in Sept. Rolf's family has 2 large dogs, a cat and an inground pool. We don't know how that will go, so we bought this to keep his safe.

We made sure Marilyn's last days were happy ones. Einstein laid on her bed licking the tears that rolled down her face. I helped with her care and cried my eyes out when she flew off to her next Journey. She was a great friend and even a better human! I miss her dearly. I promised her that the first kiss he gets every morning will be from her and also the last kiss of the night.

Promises made, promise kept!

Einstein is thriving and is a very happy little man. We are blessed to be entrusted with his care.

Please welcome this sweet little boy to our family. Our hearts are very full of love once again.

Hugs,
Kim, Rolf & Einstein

  1. Welcome Einstein! You ended up in the perfect home with the best family. Hope we can get up there soon to meet you. We'll have to work out a date when you're back from your vacation. Our newest rescue (A Yorkie named Bear) also has terrible separation anxiety. We can't even leave the room without him getting upset. But we were successful in getting him to accept being in a crate when we have to leave the house without him. He now runs to it and waits when he sees we're getting ready to leave. I check on him with a camera while we're gone and he's usually fast asleep.

  2. I am so happy to hear about Einstein getting adopted into your family. I know that Lily Belle and Muffin would approve. I am sorry about your dear friend passing but glad you were there for Einstein.
