#cancersucks Update

We went to visit the very nice eye specialist outside of Orlando and we really liked him. OK, my humans liked him a lot, me not so much! He stuck paper thingies in my eyeballs that turned color. We know some of you can relate to those paper thingies. Then he put funny drops in my eyes, turned out the lights and looked deep into my beautiful eyes. I heard some Al Green music playing in the background and I got a little excited for a moment. Then I came to my senses and realized where I was and that blew the mood immediately.

Then the nice nurse stole me and took me to the back room where they took some of my blood. The blood work came back good but my liver enzyme was a little elevated. He wasn't worried about that.

He said that the carcinoma cancer needs to be removed. He explained that he makes a "house shaped" cut vs a pie shaped wedge. He can get better margins and it's much easier to close up the incision without the eyelid buckling. I've got eye drops to use now. Got out of there paying a mortgage payment! Wow, none of these specialists are cheap. My surgery will run approximately $1,200.

Then he wanted an xray of my lungs. So we had to wait a day to have them done at our vet's. He didn't like the looks on one of the pictures, so it was sent out to a radiologist. Cha~ching! We just keep racking up these humungous invoices.

Mommy was a nervous wreck for 2 days waiting for the results. Thank you Jesus! The report came back as "age appropriate lungs." We are all breathing a sign of relief with this news.

My surgery is scheduled for Monday morning. We have to be there at 9:30am. That means we leave the house no later than 7am. It's a long drive. Muffin is the only one happy to be in the crate. She will come with us because we have no one here in FL to let her out or feed her. Our friend who could help out will be on vacation.

Please..... please continue with the good thoughts and prayers. We can feel the love!

And..... we just gotta thank Aunt Agnes for her support for my medical bills and a BIG thank you to everyone who has donated items for us. Our hearts swell with pride having such pawsome furends. It will be a fun auction. Be sure to tell your friends too!

We love you all!

Hugs,
Lily Belle

  4. Glad they were able to figure it out quickly and come up with a treatment plan. We know about the big medical bills, but you have us beat with that one, unfortunately. :(
Sending 20 paws of luck! <3

  13. Thinking of you Lily! All these things cost so much. R's surgery cost about a semester of college for a kid. Thank goodness we don't have kids and that we do have pet health insurance. I will be thinking of you on Monday, Lily. POTP!
