We have a VERY unhappy camper at the moment! But the GOOD news is, Lily Belle is home!!
I had spoken with the Vet 3 times today during the surgery. The first time she called to tell me that pre molar 4 was cracked. Because she could not see a direct track from the tooth to the swollen face, she was going to do an xray. (Lot's of times with an abscess, they can see it go directly from the tooth to where the swelling is.)
The second time, she called to tell me that the xray showed a swollen root. She also told me that she drained the lump on Lilys face. She got out quite a bit of puss. The Doctor was going to now remove the bad tooth.
The third call was to tell me that she tried to aspirate the lump under the eye again, and this time nothing came out. She said she could feel a little hard lump inside there. At this time, she suggested leaving it alone. She is hoping that with warm compresses it will draw out any more gunk if there is any.
The Vet Tech then called me to tell me that the surgery was over and Lily was resting comfortably.
I went in at 4:30 to see the Vet. She explained everything in detail and showed me the xray. They gave Lily a pain killer shot right before we came home.
Lily will remain on the antibiotics for another 7 days. I also have a liquid anti-inflamatory & pain killer that I can start dosing out tomorrow. Warm, moist compresses for 5 days on the swollen eye.
Lily's face looks horrible at the moment.
Her lump is quite swollen and so is her jaw/lip and underneath it. She is NOT a happy camper!
Look at her little lip drooping.
I sat right down on the couch with her and she passed right out. She's exhausted.
I'm hoping that she sleeps well tonight. From the looks of it, she will. I will give her a little bit of soft food before bed. That will warm her tummy.
BTW, Muffin was really out of sorts today without her buddy here. But she perked right up and was really excited when Lily came home. She came right up on the couch with us, gave Lily a little kiss then cuddled right up next to her and fell asleep. My two sweet peas in a pod!
Here's praying that we have a good and quiet night. To quote Scarlett O'Hara "tomorrow is another day."
Love you all!
P.S. Muffin seems like she is feeling well, but did not poop yesterday or today so I can't check for blood. Let's hope the pumpkin kicks in soon.
