Our Furend Pip & Grandpa Bob Update

Furst, we would like to take a moment of silence to remember our very good Blogville furend Mr. Pip. Our hearts are heavy with the news that Pip made his way to The Bridge yesterday.

Puddles & Pip

May he always know in his heart just how much he was loved by all!

You've earned your Angel Wings Pip. You will be missed. You will ALWAYS be remembered! May the cheeseburgers be plentiful at The Bridge.....

auf Wiedersehen Pip.

Grandpa Bob Update:

Grandpa Bob is home and doing really, really well with his recovery! (That is, as long as Mommy keeps on top of him and makes him do what he's supposed to do.)

While in the hospital, his heart started acting funny and throwing in some extra beats and then sometimes missing some beats. The Cardiology Doctor's came to see him and it was decided that he will see his own Cardiologist. That appointment is scheduled for Tuesday. They don't believe it was anything too serious just his heart adjusting itself after the surgery.

Grandpa Bob has been very depressed over the past month or so and Mommy thinks she understands why. Seeing as they cancelled his surgery twice since August, it has been weighing heavy on his mind. Mommy will take him to his primary Doctor on Wednesday. We hated to hear him talk about going to see Grandma in Heaven.

His surgery follow up is scheduled for November 13th. It was originally scheduled for the end of November but Mommy moved it up. We all want to get out of NY before the snow starts flying.

Visiting Nurse Services came by the other day to do a wound check. Since they went into the artery through his groin, Mommy didn't want to be looking at his "wee willy winkie" to check the incision. Best to leave that sight to the professionals!

The Nurse will be coming back sometime this week to check it again and to check his blood pressure, oxygen levels, etc. They will also be sticking around and doing some exercises with Grandpa Bob. Oh they know him well! The Nurse knew he would NEVER exercise on his own. Exercise for him is a very important part of the healing process you know. Mommy was not happy that Grandpa Bob gave this nice lady some attitude. That is why they will stay with him while he does what is required. We understand that they will come 3-4 times a week. Yea ~ We get to bark some more!!

We all know the way to Grandpa's Bob heart is through his stomach, so Daddy took him out to lunch yesterday. He parked a medium distance away from the entrance so Grandpa Bob had to do some walking. They had a really nice lunch together and both ate Chili. Toot~Toot! Mommy was happy to have a few hours break.

We are all being very attentive to Grandpa Bob especially Mommy. He has her on her toes around here. As soon as she sits down, he calls her from the other room and she's up again. He wears an emergency necklace that with the push of a button it dials her cell phone. Mommy said who ever invented this technology should be shot. Did you know it also works well in the middle of the night? Since he's not been sleeping too well, he calls Mommy in the middle of the night to see what she is doing. Great for her insomnia! He doesn't need nothing, but calls to say hello. (Yes, we still all live in the same house!) Mommy is exhausted.

We are praying that his recovery continues to go so well. We are hoping that as soon as he (hopefully) receives clearance from the Surgeon on November 13th, we'll be outta here. Mommy is starting to look at flights for getting Grandpa Bob to Florida. He will have to stay with the "Fish" while we make the long, long, long, drive (in our stinkin' jail cell crate.)

We want to get back to the warm weather, our friends, the beautiful sunsets, our one level home where we can run in circles forever and rides in our golf cart.

Mommy can't wait to get the heck out of Dodge (for many reasons)!

And since we've not been around much, these are for your viewing pleasure.....

Grandpa Bob said he is thankful for all the Blogville prayers that you sent him. Blogville ROCKS!!

Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin

  3. So glad that Grandpa Bob is doing well. You are such a dedicated daughter... I know that Grandpa Bob appreciates you and your husband more than you can imagine. (I do have to admit to a chuckle about the middle of the night phone calls to "see what you are doing"). I hope you get some rest soon and can go to the warmth of Florida soon!

We feel very sad about Pip too. He was so special.

  4. Grandpa Bob is like us. We do anything for food. Sounds like parking at a distance, to food, may be the way to go. We hope he's feeling a bit happier. Paws crossed for the 13th.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

We sent Pip's family some hugs.

  7. Through all your hard work caring for Grandpa Bob you always have such a funny way to tell us about it. If I were caring for my dad after a surgery I too would leave checking his "wee willy winkie" to the professionals. We hope you get the okay to travel south but we bet some snow will fly before that happens. Thanks for the update.

  10. We too were deeply saddened to hear about sweet Pip. We hope he is running free and fast over the rainbow bridge and is indulging in a cheeseburger or two. Sending big hugs and love to mum and we hope Grandpa Bob continues to improve. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  11. Thanks for the update! I don't blame you dogs about wanting to move before the snow comes! You dogs have short legs -- be glad you aren't boy dogs with "wee willy winkies" when walking thru piles of snow.

  13. Oh dear, so sorry to hear about Mr. Pip. I did not know him, but just skipped over to read his farewell - and of course, plenty of tears. We all grieve together in Blogville.
I am so relieved to hear about Grandpa Bob's recovery going so well so far. We send many prayers that it continues to go well! He must be feeling pretty good to get out and have chili! Should've told him to save you and Muffin the meaty pieces!
Okay, I remember you talking before about going back to Florida... are you all moving back there or just visiting? And one more question, please tell me about the necklace that Grandpa Bob uses to harass, I mean call, your mom in the middle of the night. I would like to know about this for my Mama, who is 78.

  19. We are sending you all love and prayers. You two little long fur tubes, please keep taking such good care of your Mom. The primary caretaker needs lots of support! So glad your grandpa is healing, even if he feels discouraged, and what a blessing he came through his surgery. We think the prison crate is worth it to get you all to Florida, some beautiful sunsets, and some R&R.

We're so sorry about Pip. Hearts.

    Sending all our fur love.

    Love,
    Tootsie and her mom

  21. We are so happy your Grandpa is doing so much better. It has been a very hard last week or so in Blogville with so many of our dear friends leaving for the bridge.
Losing my bestie Gracie Lynn and then Pip so soon after has been very difficult. Mommy says she's sure they are with my Weenie and having a wonderful time.

Mommy said to tell you Daddy that she's making brownie/candy snack bags for the Dach-to-berfest that DREAM is having on Sunday. Mommy will be posting about it tonight or tomorrow. Do you have Boston Markets where you live? That's where the brownies come from. She says they are the best ever. Wish we could send your Dad some but if there is a Bostyon Market by you he should try some.

  22. Oh, your poor mom. She must stay exhausted. We hope Grandpa Bob does well so you can all go home soon. Being sick is no fun. Being a care giver is hard.
