Follow me for a minute on my journey....
It started Saturday night eating a chicken breast for dinner. Yes it was delicious until I bit on something hard in the chicken. Guess what it was? My tooth. Dang it all! Broke a molar. At least I was very lucky that the filling stayed in the tooth so I had a pain free weekend. And for those of you who may be wondering, YES, The Tooth Fairy came and left me a $5.00 bill under my pillow! OK, so what that I'm 54 years old. I'm telling ya, ya GOTTA believe!
This morning Grandpa Bob and I had to be at the hospital really early for his heart stress test. He was quite confused with what we were doing and where we were going. His COPD was pretty bad this morning too, so they gave him a breathing treatment at the hospital before the tests.
While there, I called my Dentist and was told to come right over.
Took one look at my tooth and said yup, you need a crown. Well hell, the only crown I want is one that goes on the top of my head. I will admit to all of you, my friends, that I have a horrible fear of Dentist's. I would rather have major surgery or give up a kidney before going to a Dentist. I have to go back in 2 weeks to get fitted for a crown.
We didn't get any results from the stress test, so I will take that as a good sign. He goes for his pulmonary tests on Thursday.
Grandpa Bob was very happy that I took him for lunch after his tests. We had a wonderful lunch. Just father and daughter.
About an hour after we got home, Lily went down her ramp from the couch (good girl!) and went to see Daddy in the kitchen for a treat. When she came back into the den she was limping and immediately sat down. She would not walk on her left front leg. I sat on the floor away from her and called her. She slowly hobbled over to me.
Protecting her paw
Because of her previous IVDD issues, I was on the phone faster than a fly on shit! We brought Lily right over.
Our Vet can NOT rule out that it could be another IVDD issue, but is hoping that she just twisted her paw on the way down the ramp.
Lily got a pain killer shot in the butt. We were given pain pills and an anti-inflammatory. We are keeping a VERY close eye on her for other warning signs just in case her disc is acting up.
She is NOT happy that she has her harness on with the leash attached. She slept almost all evening and just woke up. I will give her a little more food before her evening round of pills. I'm sure she will sleep through the night. We are not leaving her unattended nor do we crate her. (She HATES her crate and thrashes around in it.)
I know that we have the BEST Blogville friends so please keep Lily Belle in your good thoughts and prayers.
I'm trying my best to stay strong and positive through all these little hick-up's in our lives. Some days are rougher than others. Your love and encouragement helps to keep me going!
Hugs,
Kim

Oh noes!!! Holy crap!! Well furst, Ma TOTALLY understands about the dentist thing! She has a bad jaw, so any work hurts for at least two weeks after, I can tell you if the crown is needed on the top, it's alot easier. Ma has 5 crowns, 4 on the bottom and 1 on the top, and every one of the bottom crowns needed to be 'redone' which meant another two weeks of a temp crown(which Ma HATES), butts it's all good in the end. Make sure they give your Moms the 'happy gas'....so much better that way!! BOL
ReplyDeleteSo, paws crossed for Gpa Bob!!!! COPD SUCKS!!!!!
Now, Miss Lilly Belle....I am sendin' you TONS OF POTP!!!! I sure hopes you just twisted it...we pups tend to do thingies like that..especially lively chicks like US!! BOL

Oh no! PotP headed your way for sweet Miss Lily Belle! I pray, pray, pray that it's not a disc issue!! We know all about that over here. We also understand about not crating. When Li'l Girl was recovering after surgery for her disc herniation, we used a pen that my husband built out of baby gates. She took to it much better than the crate and it was easier to get her in and out of it for potty times. We moved it from room to room with us so she was never alone. IVDD symptoms in the neck are so scary and I will really pray that Lily Belle just hurt her paw or something.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your tooth. I too am terrified of dentists and will visit them as little as possible. Bad, I know, but it is what it is. Maybe you can look into sedation dentistry and be all nice and doped up for your procedure(s).
And poor Grandpa Bob... all these tests. Sounds like he's being such a trooper for them. Praying for good results for both!
Prayers and pawprayers for all three of you!
Too much bad stuff happening in one day! I hope you have good news about Lily Belle tomorrow for us.
ReplyDeleteYou got it from here. All paws crossed for Lily Belle. We hope she will be OK. And we also hope Grandpa Bob's test results are good. Mom says to tell you that the best looking teeth in her mouth are her crowns:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
Oh no! Just saw this, poor Lily!!! How's she doing now? I hope it's just a sprained paw (Nola had one at about 6 months old) and not an IVDD issue!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love,
Amanda and Nola
Wow there is way too much going on over there. It doesn't seem fair. I am crossing paws for all of you. Lily, I hope your booboo paw is getting better. I hope your Mommies tooth gets fixed(my Mommy will do anything to avoid the dentist) and that Grandpa Bob is doing good. I am sending a fresh batch of magic bubbles to help cheer all of you..
