Our Special Gift

We received a very special New Years Eve gift from our furends over at Simpatico.

Muffin and I were so excited when the man in brown came to our door to deliver the packages. I barked told him that it was from one of my boytoy's, Newby and his family.

You can't see it here, but it really had our names on the label.

I carefully had to assess the situation. I had to be sure that it was really from MY boy Newby before I went crazy with delight.

Now, before I go any further I have to tell you the story behind the gift. Ms. Shelle (Newby's Mama) said it's a long standing tradition in their household that was started by her Grandma. By giving this type of gift, it was a way for Grandma to assure that everyone stayed home on New Years Eve where they would be safe and sound. Newby thought it would be a great idea to include us in their tradition.

My Newby

This is what was in the package.

The Disney movie "The Ugly Dachshund"

Newby said that in NO way was this meant as an insult. It's one of his very favorite movies and he wanted to share the joy with us.

And look at what else we got! A wonderful snack pak (for the hoomans) to enjoy with the movie!

So, on New Years Eve, we followed Newby's instructions.....

Stay home ~ Check
      Stay safe ~ Check
            Watch the movie ~ Check
Watch the ball drop at midnight ~ Failed that one miserably!
Enjoy and have a great night ~ Check

We've never seen this movie before and for some reason (which I don't understand) Mommy has never even heard of it!

IT WAS AWESOME! We LOVED the movie! It was totally funny and I barked talked to the TV throughout the entire movie. After watching it, we now understand the title. And believe me, it fits the movie well. (Butt, in the end, all of you are right ~ There's no such thing as an ugly dachshund.)

We had a fantastic New Years Eve, never made it till midnight, and are overjoyed that Newby and his family had us share in their Grandmas ol'e time tradition.

Thank you Newby, Milo, Dixie, Shelle, Mark & Reed for this most pawsome New Years Eve gift! We love you.

Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin

"The Ugly Dachshund" for pups is kind of like the movie "That Darn Cat" is for felines...
Both are funny and full of very talented actresses and actors.

  15. Our momma saw the movie when she was a little puppy, too... and it has always been a favorite of hers.
We were very pleased to have your join in our family's little tradition. We would get a new game or movie or something fun, with new jammies and a box full of snacks and everything was a 'theme'... we couldn't wait until the next year because it was so much fun guessing what we would get!!
