Mommy's Birthday Prezzie

Let me start out by saying this... Mommy HATES train rides! She had a bad experience on a train like 87 gazillion years ago and still to this day HATES going on a train. Daddy use to work for the railroad many, many moons ago and thinks they are great.

So what does Daddy do? He takes her on a fall foliage train ride for her birthday. So Mommy puts on a brave face and off they go.

They drive over an hour to get to the train station. Mom is pleasantly surprised that they have such a beautiful museum to walk around.

This is the largest railroad  & toy train museum in NY State. If you love trains, you should go to their web site. Their site is impressive.

They even  have an extensive fire fighting collection

Now you're talking Mommy's language!

More than 7000 artifacts and a 204 foot long operating train layout!

They even had a sign just for Muffin

Marty our train conductor

Mommy was very brave and was trying to conquer her fears. She took this picture looking down between the train cars while the train was moving very fast.

OK first off, Daddy sucks at picture taking! This is Mommy standing on the back of the train with the doors all open around her.

The beautiful Erie Canal

The snow plow

This is the locomotive that was pulling our train. They disconnected, went down and switched tracks, passed us and reconnected on the other end.

This is the crazy man who disconnected us!

Dead train yard

Train personnel playing with their smart phones! Guess that makes me the dumb one (once again) for being on a train where the workers don't pay any attention.

I actually stuck my head out the side of the train to take this picture of us going over a very high bridge.

Passed a lot of very old, but beautiful buildings

All in all, it was a beautiful day for a train ride (IF you like trains...)

Then we stopped at a country store

Yummy ~ fresh sprouts

Daddy then took Mommy to one of her favorite places for dinner

Daddy's Margarita came in a girlie glass! Mommy celebrated her birthday with Tanqueray and Tonic.

Caeser Salad

Prime Rib veggie soup for Daddy

Prime Rib Strogonoff for Daddy

Yes, this place is famous for their prime rib.... Mommy had the crab legs (that she showed in her post the other day). And to end a perfect evening.....

Baby hot fudge sundays

Mommy said "It was totally worth going on a train ride as long as I can eat at Red Osier afterwards!"

Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin

p.s. We spent this day with our Aunt Rona and Doxie Freeda. We shipped Grandpa Bob off for the day. Mommy was able to relax and didn't have to worry about any of us all day long.
