365 Days

It is so hard for me to believe that Lilys back surgery was one year ago today. We are all so very thankful that she is back to being healthy and her lovable self once again. We never could have emotionally made it through this difficult time without the love and support of our family and friends, her many Doctor's, and the hopeful encouragement from our many friends on the Dachsie's Bulletin Board, DailyDoxie.com and the ever informative Dodgerslist.com.

Taken 10 days after her surgery

It also means that we've been blogging for one year. I started writing this blog when Lily and I were hanging out on the couch and she was just about to have surgery. It gave me a place to vent my frustrations because I was angry that this happened to her (ok, I was scared shitless too). It also allowed me to document her journey in hopes of helping someone else going thru the same terrible thing.

And then it became a more happy blog once she started to recover.

We will always remember that our most pawsome furend Herbie from DailyDoxie.com was the very first to comment on our blog. And Little Dog Marley; the handsome and debonair Marley was the 2nd to stop by and visit. Two of the most favorite older men in Lily's life (next to her Daddy.) (Don't get your knickers all twisted now Newby. We've got enough knickers twisted at the moment.)

I give all the credit to Marley and Lady for inspiring me to start blogging. I had followed their blog for a bit and decided to give it a shot myself. And after awhile, we found all of you. Just look how far we've come! 365 days later...

Taken the day we brought Lily home ~ 04-09-04 ~ It was Good Friday
And a good Friday it was!!
(Not to be confused thinking this is our first day of blogging bcuz if you do the math.....)
We're just saying we've come a long way...

We may not be the biggest or the brightest colored blog, or even a blog of 87 kazillion followers, and we are not always blogging about d-o-g's, but we do blog about our real life happenings and then some (maybe with some delusional moments thrown in.) It's been my therapy! And these days, wow, do I need therapy!! The best part is, we have made lifelong friends.

During our 365 days of blogging...

          We've laughed
             We've smiled
                   We've prayed
                         We've cried
We've lost good furends & friends
                                     We've sent hugs
                                           We've held some hands
                                                 We've welcomed the new
                                                       We've joked
                                                             We've cussed at Blogger
                                                                   We've participated
                                                                         We've loved...

So in the end Lily, that makes us official One Year Bloggers and you an official IVDD Survivor! Two great things for us to celebrate today.

We are truly blessed!

I love you my sweet Lily Belle!

Hugs,
Mommy Kim

P.S. Lily wanted to tell Marley that she still loves him (and always will). Your first true love really never dies she said.

As her Mommy, I will tell you that right now she's being a silly schoolgirl and sometimes a girl just has to test the waters... Never give up in what you believe in Marley!

  11. I agree with Stella Rose, this is a great post! I love it! It used to matter if I had zillions of followers and comments but now I do it for therapy, for entertainment, and to promote my business. The friendships I've made here have been priceless and I am glad you found your therapy here for one year! Don't ever stop writing about your life because we love reading! Happy 1 year anniversary!

PS on the whole Newby/Marley thing: There's some kinda saying about choosing the second person, but I can't think of it. Ya just gotta be honest with them both, and hope that you and Marley can stay furiends. Or you could take my advice and be like Frankie, just flipped. I'm just sayin'

  13. Dearest Lily and Kim, thank you for your kind words. I don't mind being the older man guy in your life, just as long as I am still there! You are still on my wall (I couldn't reach it) until we move to Delhi, and your still in my heart. Congrats on your one yearaversary blogging.

  19. I found you after Lily's surgery - I didn't know about it until now. I am SO glad that it was a success. Yay! And yay for 365 days of blogging. We all love you!

We had a less good experience with dog disc surgery... with our 10 yr old Lab who never regained the use of her hind legs (she used a doggy wheelchair for the rest of her life and loved zooming around with it). So, you are truly blessed to have had such a success.

  20. Newby is very sad.... he has taken himself to bed and won't get out... not even when mom fixed bacon for breakfast.

He said he doesn't want a girlfriend... he has told Marley to come back for you.
