Another Angel in Heaven

Our hearts tonight are heavy. God has called another Angel home.

My aunt and my fathers sister, Marcia Jane (Batavia, NY) passed away tonight at 6pm. She was admitted to the hospital at noon today. After running many tests, they discovered that part of her bowel was dead and had perforated into her abdomen causing the body to poison itself. They kept her comfortable until her passing. She was 83 years old.

Aunt Marcia had a very hard life. At the age of 3 she came down with scarlet fever. That in turn gave her epilepsy. Her seizures were so violent that she was never able to live a 'normal' life as we know it. Never could work, not allowed to drive, had to walk everywhere, never could be near a stove so she couldn't cook and the list goes on and on. I have been her guardian since the late 1980's when her Mother passed away (my Grandma).

She was an animal lover and had many dog's throughout her life. She loved our Doxie's Lily & Muffin and was always excited when they came to visit her. Marcia loved her family and loved her life despite her disability.

It has been a very emotional day for us all. Since I am in Florida and she was in New York I had been on the phone constantly with the hospital directing her care from here. Nothing in life for me was easy today. Making end of life decisions SUCK! I had to do the same for my mother 4 years ago as she lay dying in my arms.

I was able to briefly talk to her and tell her that we all loved her. Though the nurse that was there with her told me she was incoherent, I KNOW that from one loving heart to another, she heard me!

Aunt Marcia, I will love you always and forever. You were MY Hero. You endured so much in your life and yet you woke each morning with a smile on your face ready to take on the days challenges.

Rest in peace Aunt Marcia. I know that Heaven has a very special place for you.

All my love,
Kim

  8. Thank you ALL my friends for your kind words. Your support means the world to me!

Another day spent on the phone making all of the arrangements. I will throw her a glorious memorial service this summer (upon my return to NY.) Life just won't be the same without her in it, but I know she is always in my heart.

    Hugs,
    Kim
